Advanced Cardiac Life Support Renewal Session 11am
March 16 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
$200This in person classroom course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR.
CLASS INSTRUCTIONS:
Dear ACLS student,
The American Heart Association ACLS course does not teach interpretation of EKG rhythms, Pharmacology particulars, Intubation, or EZ IO – Intraosseous IV insertion. This class is an overview of how to bring all these skill sets together to help save someone’s life. While in the classroom setting these specialty skill sets will be discussed and used in conjunction with hands on simulation during the execution of a mega code.
It is recommended to obtain the ACLS textbook prior to class. Students can purchase classroom supplies from AHA directly at https://shopcpr.heart.org/acls. The eBook cost is $39.50. (make sure it is the 2020 guideline addition). It cannot be reprinted, downloaded or copied. It will not disappear over time like some books do after a semester. The manual /textbook is $45.50. ACLS ebook reference cards are also available for $17.50.
Also offered by the American Heart Association is an ebook ACLS Prep: ECG & Pharmacology Bundle which conveniently combines both the ACLS Prep: ECG and ACLS Prep: Pharmacology eLearning Courses into one convenient bundle for students who are preparing to take an AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course. These courses are also ideal for healthcare professionals who require basic rhythm recognition and/or pharmacology knowledge related to the ACLS algorithms. Follow the link https://shopcpr.heart.org/acls-prep-ecg-pharmacology-bundle. The ebook prep course cost is $35.00
Feel free to bring your actual provider manual or electronic reader to the classroom to utilize them during class as a reference tool.
Students must bring a copy of their non-expired current BLS-Basic Life Support certification to class. If your card has expired, kindly, call before class to arrange plans to bring you into compliance before you attend the ACLS course.
The AHA introduced precourse Work Videos with the new 2020 guidelines on top of the precourse Self-assessment test. The online pre-course is free. Go to the link https://elearning.heart.org/course/424 to take the precourse Self-assessment and precourse work Videos. The ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment is an online tool that evaluates a student’s knowledge before the course to evaluate their proficiency and determine the need for additional review and practice in 3 sections: rhythm recognition, pharmacology, and practical application. The student must complete the Precourse Self-Assessment and achieve a score of at least 70% before taking the ACLS Course. The student must print their successful completion certificate and bring it with them to class. If you do not have your certificate of completion, you will not be able to complete the skills practice and testing of the course. If you have any trouble printing the certificate, then just forward it via email to me at HCTCLI30@gmail.com.
The ACLS Precourse Work involves a student reviewing course content through online videos before entering the classroom. The video lessons cover multiple medical subjects and each lesson includes questions to engage the student. This precourse work allows more classroom time for hands-on skills training and leads to the student being better prepared to participate as soon as they enter the classroom. The estimated pre course duration is 4 hours.
